In Emma’s own words, “I love understanding complex issues, solving challenges and simplifying structures. One of my greatest motivations remains looking up at the starry sky – to philosophize about the universe, life and the big questions of humanity.”

For Emma, the world is a mystery to be solved; this intellectual curiosity led her to pursue a Master's in Astrophysics with a focus on dark matter research at LMU Munich and, simultaneously, an Honours Degree in Technology Management and the CDTM programme. During her studies she gained experience in programming in KPMG’s physics team and the Tsung Dao Lee Institute of Astronomy in China, where she collaborated with teams from Italy and Switzerland on the DAMPE 2 Dark Matter Space Telescope project. 

Emma honed her analytical and problem-solving skills at buynomics, an AI startup founded by physicists. Prior to joining HV Capital, she gained practical experience in the financial sector as an Analyst at BlackRock, which gave her insights into various aspects of asset management including portfolio consulting, fund launch, and platform oversight.

This background spanning astrophysics research, technology management, and venture capital has equipped Emma with the scientific lens and business acumen needed to evaluate complex investment opportunities as an Analyst at HV Capital.

Unsurprisingly, Emma’s childhood obsession with rockets and outer space lives on; she loves to share her passion for the universe with others via personally-guided observatory tours. Emma says, “I am also fascinated by the beauty of life: be it architecture, interior design, art, furniture and boats or exceptional food and wine.” She dreams of owning a vineyard in Tuscany and making her own wine.
